Monitoring your key compliance topics
In a compliance function, it is a balancing act between involvement and independence. Involvement is usually seen in thinking along with the business, or providing training. Independence manifests itself, among other things, in the responsibility to monitor. Compliance monitoring involves determining whether the first line is working as intended on the main integrity risks, whether they themselves identify areas for improvement in a timely manner and then adjust the processes accordingly.
