Internal Audit: the basics

Audit training to become an internal auditor

The internal auditor's playing field is changing significantly, in recent years. Increasing uncertainty of directors in difficult times, supervisory directors feeling their responsibility more strongly, the external auditor operating under heavy pressure, supervisors acting more forcefully and second-line functions becoming more mature. The internal auditor is expected to play a strong role in this playing field. This strong role has been confirmed in the recently amended corporate governance code. Also, the awareness and/or visibility of the internal audit function is increasing, partly as a result of advocacy exercised by the profession.
