Why choose our Internal Audit Traineeship as a Principal? Reason 1.

January 16, 2020
At the AuditPeople Traineeship, young, talented trainees develop into professional internal auditors in a short period of time. Over the years, we have found that our clients have chosen to work with a trainee for a number of different, interesting reasons. In a series of blogs we pay attention to those reasons.

Reason #1: The (unique) switching opportunity.

As the person ultimately responsible for an internal audit function, you probably work in a medium or large organization. Perhaps your organization already has its own traineeship or talent pool. This would eliminate the need for you to look externally for a solution for young talent.

However, there are usually some drawbacks to a company-owned in-house traineeship.

Possible disadvantages of a corporate traineeship are:

  • The trainees of your corporate traineeship can usually choose a function/department. The unfamiliarity with Internal Audit then means that few trainees will choose the audit department. The trainees usually have not yet realized how interesting a stay in Internal Audit can be.
  • If they already choose the Internal Audit department, trainees on your corporate traineeship usually also have the opportunity to explore multiple departments. In short, you "lose" the trainee after an investment of several months.

The latter disadvantage is also seen in all traineeships offered by commercial parties. As a commercial party, the aim is usually to keep the trainee, just like the rest of the company's personnel, in service for as long as possible. And thus to have them do assignments at different customers.

With our Internal Audit Traineeship, this is different. Unique is the transfer option. Do you and the trainee become enthusiastic about each other during the traineeship? Then you and the trainee have the opportunity to start working together! At AuditPeople we see this as a success to be celebrated. For you it cuts both ways:

  • You can count on the capacity of a motivated and ambitious Junior Auditor for six months.
  • You will have several months to experience in daily practice whether the auditor involved is a valuable, permanent addition to your team.

Incidentally, you can also use the services of an audit trainee without being able or willing to offer that trainee a transfer option. As long as the chosen approach is clear at the front end of the collaboration process, this is of course fine for all parties.
